Our wonderful guardian homes allow us to continue building our program and improving our lines. This is how we continue to work on the breed standard while also making sure our babies are in amazing loving homes and get all of the training, attention, and bonds that they deserve. We are greatly appreciative of these homes!

The benefits to us - We are only willing to keep a few dogs in our home as it would be unfair to them and our puppies. By keeping only a few we are able to provide them the love, attention and training that they deserve and they are members of our family. However, there are some amazing babies we would like to keep in our program for future evaluation and to continue improving our program and this amazing breed. Our guardian homes allow for us to do this.We use Pat Hastings Puppy Puzzle method to evaluate structure and the avid method to evaluate personality.

After doing our personality and structure evaluations at 8 weeks of age we sometimes have one or two babies that Evaluate for show/breed quality. Other times there are no babies that evaluate show/breed quality and In this case all babies are placed in pet homes. It is important to us to place the show/breed quality babies in guardian homes that are willing to keep them intact until at least 18 months of age. This gives us the opportunity to evaluate them again at that time and determine if they are suited for breeding. We love when our babies are shown and would love to teach those that are interested in making this a family activity. If you are uncomfortable showing or would prefer not to, we love to do the showing ourselves. Another great activity for children is showing in county fair. this is a great bonding experience for both your dog and children. It also helps provide socialization and confidence building in your dog.

The Benefits to you - as a guardian home you are acquiring one of our highest quality babies and are helping us preserving our genetics which is very important. While we do take requests for specific color and gender this can often take a litter or two to achieve as all babies do not evaluate for show/ breed quality. we understand that each family has a different schedule and lifestyle and are very flexibale and would love to discuss specifics with you. If at 18-24 months we decide not to add the puppy to our program he/she may be spayed/neutered. If any of our guardian home babies are kept as part of our program we try to do this between 2-4 years of age. After this time they may be spayed/neutered and we are removed from their registration papers. Only 50 percent or less of guardian home babies are actually bred. in the event that we do determine breeding to be an option we assume all costs of OFA and health testing along with any costs associated with the breeding, delivery and raising of babies.

Our guardian home details (all can be discussed and made to best fit your family)

  • The puppy is kept intact until 18 months of age

  • we keep the dog in our name with you as co-owner as this helps tremendously with paperwork. As soon as it is decided by both parties to spay/neuter or the contract has been fully fulfilled our name is removed from the registration papers and your name is added as sole owner.

  • at 8 weeks of age the puppy was evaluated for show/breed quality. this is not a guarantee that they will be breeding quality at 18 to 24 months of age.

  • it is agreed that breeder may attempt to obtain a championship if desired. we are willing to work as closely with you as you wish and help mentor along the way.

  • at 18 to 24 months of age the dog will be evaluated again to determine if they are suitable for breeding. The costs of evaluation are covered by us. If it is determined they are suitable all health testing which includes (hips, elbows, Hereditary cataracts, pra/prcd and midr1) will be completed and paid for by us. Females are typically 1-2 litters and males are kept intact until 4-5 years of age unless discussed and agreed to by both parties to neuter early.

  • Either the guardian or us can deliver the babies. In the situation we deliver and raise the litter the mother can be returned 10 days post welping. In the event that the guardian welps the litter we want to ensure crate training, potty training, evaluations and leash training begin at 6 weeks of age. If you prefer we take over the training at this stage this can be discussed before the puppy leaves our home. all details will be agreed to in writing before the guardian home comes to pick up their puppy. this includes future puppy prices, home placement of future pups and so on. Each situation will be handled in a way that works best for each individual guardian home.

  • In the event that a male is placed in a guardian home all outside females (females not owned by us or the guardian) must first be approved by us.

*****We do not place any of our dogs in breeding homes without us as co-owner. We are very choosy in what is considered breeding quality and believe breeding should only be done to improve the breed. If you are interested in becoming a guardian home for one of our amazing babies please contact us to discuss specifics. *****

*****All Contracts Are Written And Approved By Both Guardian And Breeder Before The Puppy Leaves Our Home.****
